Food Vendors Come Together from across the UK
Food and drinks are a basic and necessary need for everyone man, woman, and child alive. But when you are fortunate enough to be able to enjoy luxury food and drink, necessity is elevated to joy. And that was the point of Showplace Events and vendors coming together to host the Stratford Upon Avon Food Festival, “showcasing the best local, regional, and national food and drink produce as well as providing a wide variety of entertainment,” according to festival organizer Charlotte Parkin. The festival boasted over 100 food and drink stalls and also featured cooking demos and plenty of activities for children.
The festival was run by Showplace and sponsored by Waitrose. The goal of the event was to promote as many fine foods and drink producers as possible and provide a great day out for couples and families alike. Charlotte said, “The Fabulous Baker Brothers headlined the event. Plus we had a great selection of entertainment such as butchery and cupcake demonstrations, and many different wine tastings.” The Fabulous Baker Brothers are TV chefs featured on Channel 4 on Wednesdays. Tom and Henry are brothers, one is a baker and the other is a chef and butcher. They are the 4th generation of bakers, with Tom earning the title of Young baker of the year and Henry previously being Head chef of an award winning gastro pub.
To draw people from all over to the festival, Charlotte used printed tickets from Eventgroove showing the 22- 23rd September Festival dates. They also advertised the event through television and radio ads, and found that adding more visual aids along roadsides were very affective. “Our visual road signs, banners, and posters always seem to be very effective than other advertising methods,” Charlotte said. All these methods worked because the 6th Annual Festival was the most successful yet, with over 16,000 flocking to the event. The two day festival drew record crowds despite less than ideal weather. “Saturday was particularly busy although we saw a steady flow of visitors over the two days, even on Sunday when the heavens opened, and there was a great, happy atmosphere on both days,” she recalled.

Charlotte said she had a “fun and enjoyable” experience putting together the festival. “It was different from one day to the next which kept things interesting. I would just advise to keep organized and keep in sight both long and short term goals and objectives,” she said.
